About KindHive

KindHive is a community of people who want to help young people experiencing homelessness out of homelessness for good by empowering them to receive direct donations that can only be used on the essential services they want and need, as long as they are approved by their keyworker. The essential services your donations provide help to provide educations, build careers, purchase basic necessities, and more.
We do this by empowering young people experiencing homelessness and supporting organisations with a platform through which donors can donate directly young people in need. Donors can make direct donations safely and securely via our website or by scanning NFC (near-field communication) tags given by KindHive to young people experiencing homelessness. All donations are sent directly to the key worker supporting the young person to be safely stored and deployed to fund essential services and necessities that the young person wants and needs. We then reward donors with digital vouchers to use at their favourite brands and businesses.

Our Story

Our founder, Rob, once met a homeless person at a hospital and had a brief conversation. They told him that our contactless society meant that no one received any financial support anymore and homeless people were murdered over a few coins. On the journey back home, the idea of KindHive was born.
Using these funds and by speaking to homeless organisations across London, we developed our product to best fit the needs of people experiencing homelessness. Through this process we came to understand that will KindHive provide funds for homeless people to transition out of homelessness for good by empowering contactless donations that can only be used on essential services.
To turn the idea into reality, we raised funds from the University of St Andrews, the social enterprise VC fund, Firstport, and Santander. We also won the Santander StartUp Challenge and were accepted into the Santander UK Awards.
